At the event CAN-DO will celebrate our 18 years of achievement in Newton. During that period we have created 39 units of housing in Newton. Among the populations served by the housing are women and children who were victims of domestic violence, formerly homeless persons, veterans and adults with developmental disabilities. The current project is a renovation of three units at 67 Pearl Street (Park House) in Newton Corner, one of which will be fully accessible to an individual in a wheelchair.
The celebration will begin with a reception and CAN-DO's charity auction, Yes! In My Back Yard, from 4-6 pm.; followed by a seated dinner and program. CAN-DO's Fourth Annual Pillar Award will be presented to Hubie Jones, a long-time Massachusetts civil rights activist, founder of the Boston Children's Chorus and a Newton resident.
